The five-part structure
German B2 job-language courses (“Deutsch im Beruf”) teach the same order. Employers expect it, so follow it:
- Einleitung – you read the ad and apply for the exact position.
- Bezug zur Stellenanzeige – why this company and this job.
- Qualifikationen und Erfahrungen – training, current job, two or three requirements backed by facts.
- Motivation – what you want to contribute; start date and salary if asked.
- Schluss – ask for an interview.
Useful phrases
Salutation and small rules
Use the contact person's name: “Sehr geehrte Frau Schneider,” / “Sehr geehrter Herr Schneider,”. Without a name: “Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren,”. After the comma the first word is lowercase unless it is a noun. Use the exact job title from the ad including “(m/w/d)”.
Start date and salary
If the ad asks for them, add your earliest start date (“Mein frühestmöglicher Eintrittstermin ist der 1. Februar 2027.”) and your salary expectation as gross annual pay (“Meine Gehaltsvorstellung liegt bei 52.000 € brutto jährlich.”).
